The Norwegian Refugee Council has approximately 5000 committed and competent employees involved in projects across four continents. In addition, NRC runs one of the world’s largest standby rosters, NORCAP, with 650 professionals, ready to be deployed on 72 hours’ notice when a crisis occurs.
In mid-April 2016, NRC conducted a pre-assessment mission in the refugee camps in north western Tanzania and the assessment revealed that the humanitarian situation for the refugees requires urgent intervention and NRC therefore decided to establish an operational office in Kibondo town, to respond in Mtendeli and/or Nduta refugee camps. The initial interventions will focus in three sectors; shelter, WASH and education (initially construction of permanent classrooms).

The purpose of the stores Clerk position is to assist in the day to day implementation of the support functions. This entails assisting in warehousing activities of Non-Food Items (NFI’s) including asset management.
Job description
A.Ensure adherence with NRC policies, tools, handbooks and guidelines
B. Prepare and develop status reports as required by management
C. Ensure proper filing of documents
D. Promote and share ideas for improvement of warehousing functions
E. Promote transparency, accountability and corruption free environment in all stores procedures
F. Promote and share ideas for technical improvement of system and procedures
G. Organize for storage at the warehouse for receiving NFI’s scheduled for distribution.
H. Maintain proper and accurate stock records at the warehouse in accordance with NRC’s warehousing procedures.
I. Carry out quantitative and qualitative controls measures such as monthly stock taking in monitoring stock for enhanced accountability.
J. Issue NFI’s and Core Relief Items (CRI’s) to the distribution team on day to day basis
K. Collaborate with the distribution team so to streamline NFI’s distribution activities for better control of stock.
L. Ensure proper filing and maintenance of stores records and data
M. Prepare and provide regular reports to the Logistics Officer and Emergency Officer
N. Contribute to the development of improvement of processes
O. Supervise loaders and conduct tallying of items when receiving and issuing
Qualifications
3 years’ relevant experience in Warehousing and stores Management
Documented results related to the position’s responsibilities
Knowledge about own leadership skills/profile
Be able to use a wide variety of software, including Word, Excel and Power Point
Fluency in English, both written and verbal
Experience in handling and applying NFI’s management procedures
Political and cultural awareness
Ability to work independently in a result oriented multi-tasking and multi-cultural environment and manage conflicting priorities.

Qualifications
2 years relevant experience from a humanitarian/recovery context
Documented results related to the position’s responsibilities
Fluency in English, both written and verbal
Knowledge in Swahili, French or Kirundi is a strong advantage
Be able to use a wide variety of software, Microsoft Office is an advantage
Political and cultural awareness
Ability to work independently in a result oriented multi-tasking and multi-cultural environment and manage conflicting priorities.
