How to Apply for Job (Public Service Recruitment Secretariat)

Introduction

To apply for employment in public service in Tanzania means applying to be recruited in any of the government departments / institutions / agencies in the country. Recruitment in such areas in Tanzania is done by the Human Resource Management Secretary of the *Public Service Recruitment Secretariat under the Public Service Management department in the President's Office.

Eligibility

An applicant must meet the requirements of a particular vacancy / job being applied for.
Instructions

1.Carefully read and under any instructions issued against any particular job being applied for;
2.An applicant must ensure that he / she meets the nationality requirement of a particular job vacancies;
3.Always observe the age limits of any jobs to apply for;
4.Applicants must submit updated Curriculum Vitae (CV) with reliable contact like postal address, e-mail address and telephone numbers.
5.Applications must always be submitted on the strength of the information given in advertisements of particular job vacancies;
6.Always clearly indicate title of the position and institution applied for in the subject of the application letter;
7.It is advisable to always marked title of the position and institution applied for on the envelope;
8.Endeavor to submit application together with true copies of relevant Academic certificates;
9.If possible documents submitted must be submitted true copies;
10.Submission of forged documents and giving false information is crime which necessitates legal action;
11.Always carry original documents if invited for an interview as officers may want to look at them;
12.Applicants already in the public service must always apply through their respective employers;
13.Applicants must submit application together with reputable referees plus their reliable contacts.
14.Academic documents obtained outside Tanzania must always be verified by Tanzania Commission for Universities (TCU) before being submitted;
15.Be aware of the deadline dates for submission of application for a particular job;
16.In cases of applicant with special needs (disability), it is advised that be indicated in the submitted application;
17.Write application in a language described in a particular job advert (if indicated);
18.Those retired from public service can not apply for employment in the same;

Required Information

1.Name and address of applicant
2.Title and reference number of job;
3.Employing institution / ministry / department;
4.Details of referee;
5.Level of education;
6.Qualification details;
7.Current job;
8.Reasons for leaving current job;
9.Reasons for applying for a particular job;

Procedure

1.Start by finding out which jobs are available in the public service of the country. This can be done by visiting the office of the Public Service Recruitment Secretariat and find out if there are any available/ advertised vacancies in any government ministry in the country.
Adverts can also be obtained from the secretariat’s website http://www.ajira.go.tz/ or in any daily news paper.
2.If there are any available vacancies, assess eligibility. Read the requirements of a given job and find out you meet them;
3.If you meet the requirements of a particular job advised, prepare required documents and make copies of the same.
If required / possible certify the copies; if academic documents were issued abroad take them to the Tanzania Commission for Universities (TCU) to be verified;
4.There after submit application together with required documents to the Public Service Recruitment Secretariat or as advised in the job advert of a particular job vacancy being applied for.
5.After submission closes, submitted applications are assessed and thereafter decision is made to either accept application or not.
Successful applicants are shortlisted and contacted to attend interviews;
6.Aft the interviews, best candidates are selected to go to the next step of employment.

1.Academic certificates like Postgraduate / Degree / Advanced Diploma / Diploma Certificates; Postgraduate / Degree / Advanced Diploma / Diploma transcripts; Form IV and Form VI National Examination Certificates and Computer Certificate (if any).
2.Professional certificates from respective boards
3.One recent passport size picture
4.Birth certificate.
5.Testimonials, Partial transcripts and results slips
6.Recommendation / reference letters
