Intern – Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI)
The
CQI Intern will work under a Senior CQI Advisor to support the
biomedical prevention team of the USAID SAFE VMMC Project. S/he supports
technical guidance on delivery of a comprehensive VMMC service delivery
package including training, continuous quality improvement and
management of VMMC adverse events. S/he supports sustainable strategies
to ensure safety, quality and integrity of VMMC services through
structured mentorship and supports tailored interventions for course
correction among health care providers. S/he supports preparation of
internal and external quality assessments and coordination with the
larger USAID SAFE VMMC team, Regional/Council Health Management Teams
(R/CHMTs), quality improvement teams (QITs) and health care providers
(HCPs) to incorporate VMMC sustainability strategies at the regional,
district, facility and community levels.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare
    CQI activity plans, coordinate travel logistics within and outside
    Jhpiego, organize printed materials, stationeries and equipment
    required.
  • Participate in VMMC training activities including
    supporting trainers during group sessions, administering pre-and
    post-training assessments and result analysis, participant registration
    and payments, and leading after action reviews (AARs).
  • Participate
    in supportive supervision of HCPs at health facilities providing VMMC
    services, follow up implementation of region, district and facility
    quality improvement plans (QIPs) and guide QITs to develop and implement
    remedial action plans (RAPs).
  • Identify quality improvement
    challenges, successes and lessons, and recommend changes in CQI approach
    or tools to improve efficiency and progress towards achieving target.
  • Contribute
    to project documents including training materials, assessment tools,
    data analysis, data visualization, presentation slides, activity
    reports, success stories and conference abstracts.
  • Support other
    Jhpiego projects and activities as assigned by your supervisor. Jhpiego
    aims to create opportunities for you to expand your workplace and
    program exposure and skills.
  • Select a topic on the most
    significant change (MSC) you have experienced as a young professional
    from your internship and how you will use your MSC lessons and skills to
    build your career. Jhpiego will require you to write an essay of 1,000
    words at the end of your internship.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Recent
    graduate with diploma or higher qualification in community development,
    sociology, communication, project management, public health or other
    social sciences.
  • Willingness to volunteer and learn marketable skills, and gain workplace experience.
  • Availability to start immediately during November.
  • Willingness to commit at least four months to support the SAFE Technical Assistance.
  • Ability
    to travel for field activities over extended periods in Iringa,
    Morogoro, Njombe, Singida and Tabora regions for at least 60% of the
    time.
  • Resident in Dar Es Salaam, Iringa or Tabora.
  • Excellent written and oral communication and presentation skills in Kiswahili and English skills.
  • Demonstrated self-management (i.e. motivation, dealing with pressure, adaptability).
  • Knowledge using MS Office especially Word and email.

Intern – Social and Behavior Change Communication (SBCC)

[Two positions]
The
SBCC Intern will work under a Jhpiego Senior SBCC Advisor to support
the demand creation team of the USAID SAFE VMMC Project. S/he supports
mapping of communities to localize strategies and helps to refine
interventions for specific age groups with a focus on reaching
adolescent boys and men ages 15-29 years old. S/he promotes adapting
best practices, leverages community intelligence and utilizes available
resources to integrate effective age- and population-specific
interventions. S/he assists in SBCC training, materials development and
monitoring and evaluation and coordination with the larger USAID SAFE
VMMC team, Regional and Community Development Officers (R/CDOs), Civil
Society Organizations (CSOs) and Volunteer Community Advocates (VCAs) to
incorporate sustainable VMMC demand creation strategies at the
regional, district, facility and community levels.

About the USAID SAFE VMMC Project, Tanzania
Jhpiego
expects to implement a one-year scope of work to support the
Association of Private Health Facilities in Tanzania (APHFTA) contracted
by USAID to implement the Sustainable Access for Expanded Voluntary
Medical Male Circumcision Services (SAFE VMMC) Project. USAID SAFE VMMC
Project will support VMMC activities in Iringa, Morogoro, Njombe,
Singida and Tabora regions. Jhpiego is recruiting for the following
internship positions to support the USAID SAFE VMMC Project.

Project Duration: October 1, 2020 through September 30, 2021
Responsibilities:

  • Prepare

  • Contribute
