CRDB Bank to please Tanzania


CRDB Bank in collaboration with the Office of the Vice President Union and Environment have launched an environmental conservation campaign by encouraging Tanzanians to plant trees known as “Pleasure Tanzania.

Launching the campaign attended by various government officials including the Regional Commissioner of Dar es Salaam, Aboubakar Kunenge, Minister of State Office of the Vice President (Union and Environment) Hon. Mussa Azzan Zungu commended CRDB Bank for implementing strategies to support the Government’s efforts in caring for and improving the environment through the Pendezesha Tanzania campaign which promotes the importance of tree planting in caring for the environment.

Minister Zungu said the Pendezesha Tanzania campaign is timely as it is in line with the government’s strategy to plant One Million Five Hundred Trees per year per year to implement the National Plan to Combat Desertification and Drought.

“Congratulations to CRDB Bank for this initiative you have come up with to encourage Tanzanians to take care of their environment. I promise the Government will continue to support these efforts so that together we can achieve the goal of improving and caring for our environment for present and future generations, ”said Minister Zungu while urging other institutions to emulate CRDB Bank in prioritizing environmental issues.

At the inauguration, which took place on the grounds of Goba High School, Minister Zungu appointed CRDB Bank as the ambassador for the environment. “CRDB Bank has shown great commitment in encouraging Tanzanians to take care of the environment. From today I have officially appointed you as our environmental ambassadors.

I urge the Manager of NEMC Eastern Region to ensure that they receive an embassy certificate so that they can continue to serve Tanzanians with greater commitment, ”said Minister Zungu.

The Regional Commissioner of Dar es Salaam, Aboubakar Kunenge thanked CRDB Bank for launching the Pendezesha Tanzania campaign in the Dar es Salaam region. Kunenge urged the people of the region to plant one tree each in their homes as part of implementing the campaign. “Thank you very much CRDB Bank for giving us the honor of the people of Dar es Salaam to make our city beautiful. I promise you that we will participate fully to ensure we achieve our goals, ”said Kunenge.

For his part, CRDB Bank CEO, Abdulmajid Nsekela said the campaign is a continuation of the bank’s policy to support development activities in the community which directs 1 percent of profits annually to support the fields of education, health and environmental protection.

“The aim of launching this campaign is to continue to encourage the community to see the responsibility of planting trees belongs to the whole community. We have started by planting 2000 trees in all primary and secondary schools in Goba Ward with the aim of making these schools a better and friendly environment for children to study, ”said Nsekela.

The Pendezesha Tanzania campaign is expected to be held nationwide to help build Tanzanians a culture of planting and caring for trees in response to climate change. “We have started in Dar es Salaam in these existing schools in Goba ward, but our goal is to reach all districts and villages in Tanzania,” added Nsekela.

In parallel with the launch of the Pendezesha Tanzania campaign, CRDB Bank has also provided water pumps to Fahari, Goba and Kinzudi Secondary Schools to help improve water supply in those schools.

Speaking on environmentally friendly business strategies, Nsekela said CRDB Bank has set up a business environment that focuses on environmental stewardship, including setting a policy on lending to environmental-based projects, setting up digital services and products, as well as investing in operational systems. a function that reduces paper consumption.


Goba County Education Officer, Edward Shilamba thanked CRDB Bank for launching the tree planting campaign in Secondary and Primary schools in Goba ward.
