Social Safeguards Specialist
Roles & Responsibilities
- Education
- Master’s Degree in Sociology or related fields
- Registered by a recognized institution as professional in field of specialization
Experience
- 10 years’ overall experience out of which 5 years are in dealing with safeguards issues in water projects or programs
- Considerable experience in dealing with social safeguard aspects of large water and sanitation investment projects
- Practical knowledge and experience with World Bank safeguard procedures would be a considerable advantage
- Experience in maintaining and updating strategies and plans for social and environmental safeguards including monitoring and improvement the design for community oriented social and environmental components and facilitated to corresponding stakeholders for its compliance is required
- Experience in training or capacity building in Social Safeguards

Education
- Bachelor’s Degree in procurement or similar
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Project Management, Commerce, accounting, law, business or finance with relevant training in procurement
- Registered by a recognized institution as a procurement professional
Experience
- At least 10 years of direct work experience in procurement with public, projects/programs
- At least 2 years working experience as a procurement specialist, with substantial supervisory responsibilities in procurement matters, in internationally funded/supported project(s), thereby having applied procurement procedures of the Government of Tanzania, the World Bank, and/or of other development agencies
- Excellent computer skills, conversant with Microsoft Office packages: MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, MS project etc.
- Experience in training and capacity building in procurement
- Experience in procurement of DBO contract will be an added advantage

Requirements
- Professional Accountant – CPA, ACCA or equivalent
- First Degree in Accounting, Business and/or Finance

Experience
- At least 10 years working experience with sound knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards and International Auditing Standards.
- Experience in assessing and designing financial management systems and procedures, internal controls, financial reporting and capacity building measures.
- Experience in interpreting financial management reports, analyzing variations to plans and determining remedial actions required.
- Knowledge of accounting, auditing and financial reporting systems and software packages.
- Good knowledge of public finance concepts, principles, approaches and procedures as well as financial reporting under World Bank procedures.
- Experience in working with development partners funded projects and/or programs.
- Experience in training/ capacity building in financial management and auditing.
