Four apps to download today to help you study

Who doesn’t need all the help they can get when it comes to studying? Don’t get us wrong, when it comes down to it, it’s you and only you who has to put in the grind and remember it all for the final exams, but there are a number of ways you can get help along the way.

Just some of these come in the form of an app. Being millennials, you probably have a few dozen already downloaded to your phone or smart device, but, rather than simply allowing you to like the photo of your friend hot air ballooning in Cappadocia, we look at four that can actually help you study, manage your time, further your career, and destine you for greatness. (So that maybe one day you can be the one hot air ballooning in Cappadocia!)

Evernote for Students

Whatever you’re studying, Evernote is a great tool. It’s widely preferred and used across all industries but can be particularly useful for students.

This handy app will organise your class notes into notebooks of your choice; by course, lecturer, projects, etc. It can scan handwritten notes (yes, even what you think is illegible), or you can handwrite notes directly using the pen tool. Record lectures or group discussions (just make sure you have permission), convert photos of coursework into pdfs, create to-do lists, and set reminders. Basically, your student life at your fingertips!

The basic version is free, but at the moment Evernote are giving 50% off the premium version. Click here to take advantage of the offer > https://evernote.com/students/

Smart Study Plan

Smart Study Plan uses Artificial Intelligence to generate a weekly study timetable, telling you what you need to study in each period of the day based on your profile and your time availability. You just need to input all your courses that you need to study for, the time you have available to study (be realistic here), and when you prefer to study (while you are watching TV is not the correct answer). Punch all the info in and this app provides you with a schedule that’s easy to follow and keeps you on track.

Forest: Stay Focused

This app doesn’t assist with studying per se, but rather helps you remove distractions (aka your phone) and forces you to focus on the task at hand. The way it works is whenever you focus on a block of studying, you plant a virtual tree. The longer you focus for, and the harder you work, the more trees are planted and the lusher your forest gets. Quit the app, and your tree withers and dies. This is a great visual representation of how long you’ve been studying for, with a fantastic environmental angle.

Download the premium version and you can plant real trees with tree-planting organisation Trees for the future. What is more rewarding than that?

Quizlet

Are you a fan of using flashcards when it comes to studying? Then this is the perfect app for you. You can create your own flashcards or choose from the millions that have already been created by other students. But it’s not just flashcards that make this app cool. You can practise for that upcoming test, test your memory, learn a foreign language or even learn a whole new subject. You can collaborate and share study material with your mates and test each other, making studying fun. The basic version is free, and there are two versions you can upgrade to, for even more features.
