We are seeking the ELECTRO - NEOROPHYSIOLOGY TECHNOLOGIST position
JOB SUMMARY
As a part of the neuroscience programme the Aga Kahn Hospital require an experienced electro-neurophysiology technologist capable of operating as a specialized diagnostic equipment (EEG, EMG, sleep study equipment, intraoperative neuro monitoring etc) to record and evaluate the electrical activity of the brain and nevers and electrical activity resulting from stimulation of sensory and monitor pathways
The technologist should be able to use sensitive electronic diagnosticequipment to record and evaluate the electrical activity of patient central and peripheral nervous system to assist physicians in diagnosing disease, injuries and abnormalities
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- performs online analysis to determine modification or adjustment to procedure
- assists electro-myographer during needle exam as required
- capable of recognizing the nature and significance of potentials record with intramuscular needle electro codes and adjust monitoring equipment parameters as required
- prepare patients for neuro diagnostic testing by explaining the procedure
- obtain medical history information patient to the interpersonal of test results
- prepare neuroadignostic testing equipment
- provide care and assistance to patient during procedure
- maintain equipment and troubleshoot technical problems
- facilitate communication among health care professional
- participate in student teaching and training as required
- continues educating by participation in –service, training session and seminars as work load permits
- assist with implementation of research and clinical protocols as required
ACADEMIC QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS
- 2 years training in electro – neourophysiology program
- Diploma/advanced diploma in electroneurophysiology from a known / reputable training centre
- At least 5 years working with 3 years’ experience in EEG or EMG
