CNFA is currently seeking applications from qualified candidates for the upcoming FY 2018 Food for Peace (FFP) Development Food Security Activity (DFSA). This activity will work at the individual, household, and systems levels to address the underlying causes of chronic food insecurity to improve and sustain the food and nutrition security of vulnerable populations.
Position Description:
CNFA considers gender integration a key contributor to sustainable development outcomes. Across its global programming, CNFA uses both gender-sensitive and gender-transformative approaches to strengthen livelihoods and increase rural incomes and household food security. The Senior Gender Advisor will lead gender integration throughout the entire five-year award period. The individual will be responsible for the coordination of best practices across all levels of the intervention. Responsibilities will include: strategic leadership of a baseline gender audit and gender-transformative programming, review of grant proposals, facilitation of national and regional workshops, capacity building plans for program staff and partners to increase the integration of gender-sensitive activities, the review of key program materials for gender sensitivity and equity factors, and continuous analysis of contextual and socio-cultural factors in gender-equity.

- Qualifications:
- 5+ years of experience in gender-sensitive and gender-transformative field programming at the community level is required, experience conducting such programming in West Africa is strongly preferred;
- 2+ years of experience in the field-level management of development projects is required;
- Strong understanding of socio-cultural factors within the food security context is required;
- Experience in the analysis of polygamous households and the distribution of decision-making power is preferred;
- Demonstrated experience with participatory data collection and gender-focused M&E;
- Experience building the capacity of stakeholders and program staff to facilitate gender-sensitive programming is required;
- Knowledge of agricultural, livelihood, and/or food security programming is preferred;
- International donor experience required, USAID program experience, particularly with Food for Peace funding, is preferred;
- Bachelor's Degree in relevant technical area, such as gender, women's studies, agricultural economics, or international development, is required, a Master's Degree is preferred;
- Strong French and English ability is required, understanding of local languages preferred.
