Announcement of PhD and Master’s Scholarships under the AfDB Scholarship Programme, at NM-AIST for 2017/18 Academic Year The Nelson Mandela African Institution of Science and Technology (NM-AIST) in Arusha, Tanzania, has received support from the African Development Bank (AfDB), the government of Tanzania to strengthen its graduate and post-graduate programmes in Science, Engineering, Technology, and Innovation (SETI).These programmes are aimed at providing Africa with the skills needed to add value to its natural resources and to enhance its competitiveness and growth. In response to this support, NM-AIST has set aside a number of Master’s and PhD scholarships for the Academic Year 2017/2018. These scholarships shall competitively be made available.
These scholarships are open to local and regional students. The scholarships will run for three years
for PhD and two years for Master’s programs. The scholarships are initially granted for one year and may be subsequently extended upon successful academic performance. While on the scholarships, students are encouraged to apply for additional funds for research money. Successful applicants are expected to report for studies on 15th January, 2018.
Eligibility criteria
1) One page motivation letter.
2) Certified copies of academic transcripts a n d certificates in relevant fields.
3) NM-AIST admission letter or proof of completed application for admission to NM-AIST (Please apply for online admission through www.nm-aist.ac.tz if you do not have admission letter and indicate you have applied for particular scholarship opportunity).
4) A recommendation letter from the current employer and/or previous supervisor / educator.
5) Evidence of peer reviewed journal publications (added advantage for PhD by Research and Thesis degree mode).
6) A maximum of a 2-page of Curriculum Vitae (CV).
7) A maximum of a 2-page r esearch concept note (added advantage for Master’s/PhD by
Coursework and Dissertation degree mode and mandatory for Research and Thesis degree mode).

Incomplete documents or failure to follow instructions will automatically lead to disqualification.

time to commence studies at NM-AIST.
