How to dress for an interview

"First Impression is the Best Impression".The first judgement an interviewer makes is going to be based on how you look and what you are wearing. Thats why, in many cases,it is still important to dress professionally for a job interview, regardless of the work environment

Whats the appropriate dress code for an interview?

You will want the first impression to be not just a good one,but a great one.In general,the candidate dressed in a suit an tie is going to make a much better impression than the candidate dressed in scruffy jeans and a t-shirt. For men shirts made of cotton works best for the same reason that wool works best for suits.

Men's Attire:

>Suits(solid colour-navy or dark grey)
>Long sleeve shirt (white or any light
coloured does the job). >Dark pants are the best preferred for the light coloured shirts.
>Belt
>Tie
>Dark socks,conservative leather shoes.
>Little or no jewellery.
>Neat professional hairstyle.
>Limit the aftershave.
>Neatly treamed nails.
>Portfolio or briefcase.

Women's Attire:

>Suite(navvy,black or dark grey)
>Indian formal wear (salwar kameez/ sarees) is fine but should be sober.
>The suit skirt should be long enough so you cann seat down comfortably
>Clothing should not be transparent, nor form fitting.
>Coordinated blouse
>Conservative shoes
>Limitted jewellery(no dangling earrings or arms full of bracelets)
>No jewellery is better than cheap jewellery
>Professional hairstyle
>Light make-up and perfume
>Neatly manicured clean nails
>Portfolio or briefcase

The accesories:

When coordinating colours,remember,leather to leather and metal to metal.Always match the colour of your belt with your shoes and the colour of your belt buckle with your watch.Wear jewellery sparingly for your interviews. In some settings,it may detract from your professional appearance.Limit yourself to one ring per hand, and leave visible piercings at home. Socks should match in colour to your suit. Black with black,grey with grey,tan with tan. Black socks are acceptable for dark coloured suits, though a closer match is more desirable. Be sure your shoes are shined,that the edging is not fading(a magic marker can sometimes work wonders,) and that laces are not broken or frayed.
